AIROD is an internationally recognized Maintenance, Repair &  Overhaul (MRO) organization and was a pioneer of this in the country and  remains Malaysia’s top aviation MRO center. With world-class facilities  to support fixed and rotary wing aircraft, strengthened by more than  two decades of technical expertise and excellence, AIROD has transformed  from a national and regional player to a recognized brand in the  international aviation industry, servicing 78 customers in 33 countries.  

The RMAF-AIROD was officially established in 1974 as a unit of  the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) as the first and only in-country  depot level facility to support the RMAF aircraft and the associated  engines, aero-components and avionics. For the first ten (10) years  RMAF-AIROD had remained an entity within the RMAF establishment and  provided the RMAF basic maintenance, repair and overhaul services.

In 1984, AIROD Sdn Bhd (AIROD) was incorporated as a joint  venture between Aerospace Industries Malaysia (AIM – now known as  National Aerospace and Defense Industries Sdn Bhd or NADI), and Lockheed  Martin Systems International (LASI) of USA. 

AIROD became an authorized  Lockheed Martin Hercules Service Center in 1986. In 1995 all LASI  shares were divested and acquired by local companies and in 1997, PJS Industries via its subsidiary, NADI, which acquired the ownership of  AIM, became the major shareholder. Since privatization, AIROD has supported 76 combined military  and commercial from 33 countries by providing world class quality depot  level maintenance, aircraft customization, modification which includes  structural and avionics upgrade.
